The new design is finally up!

Well, the new design is finally up and running! I felt the last design (The black and red scheme) was looking a tad dated, way too dark, and a bit tight when trying to get content into it.

This new design is nothing special - I'm not a full on graphic designer! However I think it looks a lot fresher and easier on the eye. It's also a lot easier to cross reference content with my secondary link system on the right column. This should also improve things on the SEO front.

Fuel Cost Calculator

Hey all, I have created a small online application that will calculate the costs of running a petrol car vs diesel ones. Simple enter the current fuel prices, the MPG of the cars, and the cost of the cars - it will then show the fuel costs with and without the cost of the car over difference mileages.

I have only added the first one for now, with the second due very soon. Once thats uploaded I'll start work on the rest! The second upcoming tutorial is how to work with MySQL from within PHP :) Hope you like!

I finally have a new car!

Yay, I have a new car! It's a shiny Mercedes Benz C180, what do you think? I decided it was time I upgraded...

No more crappy old Astra Diesel, this thing is fast, rear wheel drive, super comfortable, and has all the extras I could ever wish for! I think I have now been converted to Mercedes Benz forever!

Site speed is important!

Well, I finally got around to rebuilding my website. It's not 100% complete yet, I still need to roll out the comments site wide - but I'm almost there.

The reason for the redesign was that the last version was running off Wordpress, and it seemed to be running very very slowly, and I had a hunch this was turning people away from the site. I decided to rebuild the site from scratch, using my own custom framework, and the site now zooms along quite happily! This does seem to have impacted traffic, and it has increased steadily over the last few days at last!
