Well, we had a farily impressive Earthquake last night! I was happily sat at my desk around 12:55am, when all of a sudden the room began to shake. At first I thought it was someone upstairs just moving some furniture, but it steadily grew stronger and stronger very quickly. Then we realised what was going on!
In all, it only lasted about 10 seconds I think, and the BBC reports that it was a 5,3 magnitude quake. Damn, it didn't half feel powerful though! I have been in an Earthquake before, when I lived in Germany, but I slept right through that one...
So, my first real feel of an Earthquake in England has left me in awe, the sheer feeling of "I'm screwed if this gets any worse and there's nothing I can do about it" was amazing.
As I live only about 40 miles from the epicentre I'm guessing we got some of the true strength - those living elsewhere in he country seem to be saying - bah, it was rubbish. Try it nearer the centre next time and you'll change your mind!
What were your experiences like, anyone else from Rotherham?
