The new design is finally up!

Well, the new design is finally up and running! I felt the last design (The black and red scheme) was looking a tad dated, way too dark, and a bit tight when trying to get content into it.

This new design is nothing special - I'm not a full on graphic designer! However I think it looks a lot fresher and easier on the eye. It's also a lot easier to cross reference content with my secondary link system on the right column. This should also improve things on the SEO front.

Here's a shot of the old style compared to the new one:

To co-incide with the launch, I have re-written my pagination function, it's a lot sleeker and easier to code with. I have also explained how to use it in more detail as it appears from the comments on the first version, it wasn't very straight forward!

So, what do you think? Also, if you notice any errors, please feel free to let me know :)

I have been putting more time into my custom framework recently too - I think I'll have a public beta availble to play around with within the month hopefully. The same goes for my client and invoice management system, although it'll probably be next month before that rears it's head for download.

I have also started using twitter, you can find me at http://twitter.com/Ben_Griffiths if you want to follow me!

Your new site looks a lot more vibrant and refreshing. A great redesign!

I have a few questions about the pagination function.
What does this line do? $total_pages = $total_pages;
Building the middle links seems to be a bit long winded. Couldn't it be simplified?
It's a useful function and I now know how to use SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS.

Never noticed that line! I'll have to go through it and make sure there's no other mistakes... The middle section is long winded, but that's because of the way it shows number links, ie 1 2 3...19 20 21... 32 33 34 etc. It's quite flexible in that respect :)
